Financial Risk Analyst (Rotational) (12-Month Contract)
TMX Group is a leading global exchange company that plays a critical role in the Canadian financial system. The Financial Risk Analyst (Rotational) will support daily risk reporting and develop risk management tools through a 12-month program divided into two rotations focusing on different aspects of post-trade risk management.
Responsibilities
- Execute High-Impact Analysis: Produce timely and accurate risk parameters for Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives across both Exchange-Traded and Over-the-Counter (OTC) markets
- Multi-Dimensional Risk Reporting: Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments of market, liquidity, and credit risks to generate critical reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders
- Strategic Growth Support: Evaluate risk profiles for new products and initiatives, providing data-driven insights on their impact on existing risk processes
- Optimize Risk Workflows: Leverage SQL and programming expertise to automate analytics tools, streamlining current risk management processes while maintaining rigorous controls
- Policy & Procedure Development: Design and implement new risk management frameworks and maintain procedural documentation to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements
- Root Cause Analysis: Support the identification and resolution of production incidents, performing deep-dive analysis to propose long-term technical or business solutions
- External Partnership: Proactively manage ad-hoc requests and inquiries from external partners, including Clearing Members and Regulators
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Information Technology, Risk Architecture, and Operations teams on high-priority projects that modernize the risk management landscape
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
- 1–3 years of professional experience, with direct exposure to risk management (Equities, Fixed Income, or Derivatives)
- Proficiency in SQL (or other database query languages) and a strong command of data visualization and reporting tools
- A proactive, independent self-starter with meticulous attention to detail and the interpersonal skills to thrive in a highly collaborative team environment
- A Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Finance, or Engineering)
- Proficiency in Python, Matlab, or VBA
- Experience navigating Bloomberg terminals
- Bilingualism in French and English (oral and written) is an asset
