Employment Specialist
Prospect Human Services Society is dedicated to helping people secure employment and build inclusive workplaces. The Employment Specialist will work with employers and job seekers to connect talent with opportunities, support recruitment efforts, and foster partnerships to enhance workforce inclusivity.
Responsibilities
- Work with our employer partners, helping them understand the needs of a variety of demographics and how to support and foster a work environment of inclusivity and collaboration. Provide assistance with recruitment, and connections to larger Prospect events and resources
- Reach out to potential employers to find opportunities that align with client skills, qualifications and goals, and to identify areas where we can assist with recruitment needs. Foster ongoing relationships by providing relevant resources and support to employers in areas of recruitment, retention, and workforce development
- Working closely with our Career Advisors, provide resume, job search, application, and interview support to our job seekers
- Provide Prospect teams with information on current employment opportunities and source candidates for our employer partners
- Present potential candidates for employment opportunities to employer partners, and at times, support employers in understanding workplace accommodations and disclosure for individuals
- Achieve employment outcomes monthly, meeting or exceeding contract targets consistently
- Coordinate employment details with clients and other internal departments such as Service Coordinators, Career Advisors, Retention Support and Administration
- Create long lasting partnerships with employers to enable multiple employment and learning opportunities for clients
- Stay current of current employment opportunities and labour market trends
- Act as a representative to address attitudinal barriers, work to remove stigmas attached to employment and people outside the traditional labour pool
- Represent Prospect at career fairs, trade shows and other events as required
- Maintain accurate and up to date information in relevant databases and reports
Skills
- Post-secondary education in a relevant program. A combination of related training and experience will also be considered
- Experience working with clients from a variety of demographics, including individuals with disabilities and those experiencing mental health challenges
- Prior experience in recruitment, understanding of recruitment cycles and organizational needs an asset
- Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional service with the ability to present ideas and/or services to individuals and groups
- Highly driven, reliable, and confident individual who works well in a fast-paced environment
- Must have a valid Alberta, minimum Class 5, driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- This is a hybrid role where employees must be flexible to work in-office and at home
- Travel is required within the community and to Prospect's surrounding offices
- Experience in employment placement, customer relations, business to business collaboration preferred
- Knowledge of the local labour market, employment standards are considered assets
- Exposure to diversity and inclusion programs is an asset
