Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as an International Freight Forwarding Professional, specializing in ocean product development and strategy implementation. In this critical role, you will work closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, as well as other key stakeholders, to execute strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving business success, and you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to increase ocean volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality, in close collaboration with the Managing Director of Ocean and other key stakeholders
• Support carrier development, pricing, and analysis of carrier service, routings, and performance, as well as resolving carrier service issues
• Collaborate with sales and operations teams as an ocean subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to drive business growth and achieve volume targets
• Implement and communicate pricing programs, review volume targets, and assist in developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales and achieves expectations of account development and yield enhancement
• Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations
• Direct and indirect customer contact will be required, providing exceptional service and support to our clients
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity
• Manage annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product, promoting our services and driving business growth

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus, with a strong understanding of the ocean freight industry and its complexities
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, with excellent communication and presentation skills
• Business-oriented with remarkable business acumen, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree or certification in a related field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or international business
• Additional experience in sales, operations, or marketing, with a strong understanding of the ocean freight industry and its complexities
