Role Description We are seeking a Billing Specialist/Medical Coder for our Central Billing Office. This position is remote and open to candidates based anywhere in the United States. • Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures, using ICD, HCPCS, and CPT codes • Make judicious decisions on which codes to assign in each instance and function to a high level of accuracy • Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations • Work with the clinic staff to ensure the charges are billed to the responsible party as needed • Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation • Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual • Review charts as needed to ensure coding accuracy • Ensure compliance with medical coding and policies • Work directly with other team members on appeals and denials from insurance payors • Understand and bill both professional and facility claims • Process a high volume of claims accurately • Work directly with department manager, clinic, and other billing staff • Prepare reports as requested by management team • This position is full time covering the coding/billing of a multi-location practice • The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time Qualifications • Associate's Degree in Medical Coding or CPC Certification • CPC certification is preferred • Minimum of 2 years in medical billing/coding • Fertility billing background preferred but not mandatory • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology • Commitment to a high level of customer service • Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures • Solid oral and written communication skills • Working knowledge of medical jargon and anatomy preferred • Highly proficient at Excel • Able to work independently and with a team as needed • Competent use of computer systems and software, Azalea and Athena preferred • Ability to talk on phone and communicate verbally Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
