Tax Preparer/ Bookkeeper Part-time Remote
A small, owner-operated CPA firm focused on serving small business clients is looking for a skilled tax accountant for a part-time, fully remote position.
The firm is based in North Carolina, with the owner located in Northeast Georgia, and is completely equipped for remote collaboration.
Position Details:
• Part-time:
• Most of the year: 20 hours/week
• Tax season (Jan 15 – Apr 15): 30 hours/week
• 100% remote
• Flexible, asynchronous work environment
Key Responsibilities:
• Collect QuickBooks files, bank and credit card statements from clients
• Prepare business and individual tax returns
• Reconcile accounts and maintain balance sheet workbooks for monthly bookkeeping
• Use remote desktop software for QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
• Communicate with clients to clarify missing info
• Assist with tax projections and schedule updates
• Collaborate via Microsoft Teams and Monday.com
• Learn and adapt to new processes and tools
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• At least 2 years in an accounting role
• Proven background in tax return preparation (minimum 2 years)
• Familiarity with monthly close and payroll systems (e.g. Gusto, QuickBooks, ADP)
• Demonstrated ability to research and respond to IRS tax notices
• Skilled in drafting formal letters to the IRS
• Comfortable contacting the IRS on behalf of clients
