Interim M&A / Private Equity / Corporate Development/ Strategy Consultant
We are a publicly traded fintech company seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented part-time financial modeling / M&A analyst to support the evaluation of acquisition opportunities. The role focuses on building and refining detailed financial models to assess potential M&A targets, conducting valuation analysis, and supporting internal investment decision-making. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development with significant financial modeling experience, and is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deal-oriented environment. This is a part-time engagement requiring advanced Excel skills and the ability to build models from scratch using raw financial data.
Responsibilities:
/ Build and maintain dynamic 3-statement operating models with monthly, quarterly, and annual projections.
/ Evaluate private, early-stage acquisition opportunities, analyzing target company financial models, statements, and KPIs.
/ Develop internal operating models based on target company financials and key performance indicators.
/ Conduct DCF, comparable company, and precedent transaction analyses to support valuation of M&A targets.
/ Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to stress-test key assumptions and value drivers.
/ Support preparation of investment committee materials and summary memos to inform internal decision-making.
/ Identify key value drivers, risks, and integration considerations for each acquisition opportunity.
/ Refine existing models for accuracy, clarity, and auditability to ensure institutional-quality deliverables.
Requirements:
/ Possess 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or transaction advisory.
/ Demonstrate advanced Excel financial modeling skills with the ability to build dynamic 3-statement models from scratch.
/ Show strong understanding of valuation methodologies, including approaches appropriate for private, early-stage startups.
/ Exhibit experience building models from raw data and financial statements — not just modifying existing templates.
/ Possess high attention to detail and strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
/ Show comfort working in a fast-paced, deal-oriented environment with multiple concurrent evaluation workstreams.
Nice to Have:
/ Experience in fintech, financial services, or technology sectors is highly advantageous.
/ Familiarity with early-stage and growth-stage company valuation, including revenue-based, ARR-based, or user-based valuation frameworks.
/ Prior experience at a publicly traded company, including familiarity with public company disclosure considerations in M&A evaluation.
/ Exposure to investment committee processes and the ability to synthesize complex analyses into concise, decision-ready materials.
/ Experience with integration planning or post-acquisition financial tracking as a complementary skill set.
/ Professional qualifications such as CFA (or progress toward) or equivalent.
Scope of Work:
/ Build and refine detailed financial models on a part-time basis to support ongoing evaluation of acquisition opportunities.
/ Conduct valuation analyses (DCF, comps, precedents) for each target, tailored to early-stage and private company contexts.
/ Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to quantify upside, downside, and base-case outcomes for each opportunity.
/ Prepare investment committee materials and summary memos synthesizing key findings, risks, and recommendations.
/ Refine and audit existing models to ensure accuracy, clarity, and institutional-quality standards.
/ Work independently with minimal supervision, coordinating with the internal deal team as needed.
