Associate Engineer I
New Jersey Resources is a Fortune 1000 diversified energy company focused on pursuing a reliable and sustainable energy future. The Associate Engineer I will assist with reviewing electrical design drawings for renewable energy projects, develop specifications, and provide oversight during construction and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Review and provide feedback on electrical design and vendor equipment drawings, including array layouts, site electrical distribution plan, one-lines, and grounding drawings
- Review and provide comments for the electrical calculations including short circuit, cable and conduit sizing, grounding, voltage drop, incident energy, and relay coordination
- Conduct field inspections, which require the interpretation and implementation of contract specifications and drawings; report any deficiencies
- Attend factory witness testing for electrical equipment
- Support commissioning and testing program for new commercial solar projects
Skills
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, electrical, or civil preferred)
- 0-2 years of experience with an engineering design firm or construction management firm with an emphasis on renewable energy projects and electrical power system design
- Experience with the National Electrical Code and electrical standards
- Proficiency with MS Office and strong communication skills
- Ability to scale NJRCEV assets is necessary and access rooftops
- Travel required - 25% - 35%
- Solar array design experience is preferred
- Experience in commercial solar projects is plus
- Knowledge of electrical equipment, including medium voltage switchgear, generators, inverters and transformers preferred
- AutoCAD and PVSyst software experience preferred
