Engineering Technician, HVAC Test Equipment
What to Expect The Technician will work as a member of the Test Equipment Maintenance Team. As part of Hardware & Test system engineering. The primary objective of this role is to establish and maintain safety as well as reliable lab infrastructure through installation, preventive maintenance and repair of test equipment, workshop assets and facility utilities, with the focus being on environmental chambers and chillers. The successful candidate for this position must have a broad background and a proven record of success in HVAC & refrigeration, ideally with a focus on test equipment utilizing refrigeration systems. Consisting of Single stage system as well as Cascade systems usings 404A,449A and 508B refrigerant. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla as well as with our suppliers. The successful candidate for this position takes pride in their hands-on abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. What You’ll Do - Perform preventative maintenance and repair of test equipment, Environmental Chambers and Chillers - Perform the installation and commissioning of new equipment in the form of reach–in, walk-in, drive in style Chambers & different types of chillers - Interact with outside contractors and service personnel to manage equipment installation, commissioning or repair projects - Support Ad Hoc Work Request in support of Test and Engineering efforts as required also be able to monitor, change status on work tickets via Jira our in-house repair ticketing system - Understand and follow safety and environmental regulations, as well as identify safety and environmental concerns - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment throughout repairs, effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines What You’ll Bring - Technical or trade school degree related to HVAC, refrigeration, environmental chambers or other applicable equipment repair - A minimum of 1-3 years of repair and maintenance experience related to environmental chambers, chillers or other refrigeration equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment - Hands-on technical experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures and their repair - Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, shop tools and shop equipment - Experience with blueprints and schematics (electrical, refrigeration, hydraulic, and pneumatic) - Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally when necessary - Ability to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines - Experience in pipe fitting, plumbing, and brazing - Must have a valid driver’s license. As well sa excellent oral and written communication, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. - Must have and maintain a 608 Universal certification to work with refrigerants
