Job Title: Sr. Content Designer
Location: Remote (flexible timezone, preference for PST)
Start Date: ASAP (3/16 preferred)
Duration: 6 month contract (potential to extend/convert, no promises)
Compensation Range: $70 / hour – $75 / hour W2
This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
What this role is
Senior product content design / UX writing role focused on consumer subscription conversion. You will write and iterate on landing pages and end-to-end subscription flows that drive sign-ups and improve the experience of managing a subscription.
This is not a content marketing, editorial, comms, or AI-output QA role.
What you'll do (core outcomes)
• Optimize subscription acquisition & conversion: Create/iterate copy for landing pages, plan selection, signup/onboarding, checkout/payment, and subscription management (upgrade/downgrade/cancel-save).
• Write modern consumer UX content: Headlines, value props, pricing/trial language, error states, and in-flow guidance that feels clear, confident, and modern (not stiff).
• Move fast with stakeholders: Take high-level feedback (PM/Design/Marketing/Leadership) and produce high-quality revisions quickly.
• Partner cross-functionally: Work daily with Product Design, PM, Eng, and Marketing/Growth to ship improvements and new features.
• Design in Figma: Work directly in Figma and present a portfolio walkthrough using real artifacts.
Must-have requirements (screening)
Required experience
• 5 years as Content Designer (title mix of Content Designer/UX Writer OK).
• Recent consumer-facing product work (last 12–18 months) on web AND mobile.
• Subscription / membership / monetization flow experience (any of: trial, pricing, plan selection, checkout, upsell, retention, cancellation).
• Conversion-focused writing (CRO/growth experimentation, A/B testing, funnel work, or measurable improvements).
• Figma proficiency (comfortable writing in-file and presenting live).
Portfolio requirements (hard requirement)
Portfolio must show:
• At least one end-to-end case study (landing signup/checkout manage subscription)
• Before/after iterations (showing how copy improved with feedback/testing)
• Examples of modern consumer tone (headlines/value props concise microcopy)
Soft skills
• Excellent communication, proactive, responsive, and comfortable in fast-paced contractor environments.
Nice-to-haves (strong differentiators)
• Experience at modern consumer tech brands (e.g., ecommerce, marketplaces, streaming, consumer apps).
• Experience with subscription lifecycle (upgrade/downgrade, retention, churn-save, winback).
• Strong top-of-funnel headline and value proposition writing.
Not a fit if:
• AI content QA / LLM output review roles where the primary work is editing model outputs.
• Content strategy / content marketing / editorial / comms without product UX writing ownership.
• Trust & Safety / Integrity / internal tools only (unless they also have consumer subscription conversion examples).
• Designers without writing ownership, or writers who don't work in Figma.
