Art Director
Primary responsibility is to ensure that the creative concept is visually translated into a design that communicates the look and feel of the concept as directed by the Creative Director and or the CCO. The Art Director working together with copywriters will manage Senior Directors and other junior design staff, to ensure that all concept insight and brand communication/mandatory have been accounted for, and to direct and ensure layout design, typography and copy writing for all print elements of every program meet and exceed the clients’ expectations. The Art Director holds the responsibility for the visual integrity of the program concept. He/she must be detail-oriented, have a strong sense of typography, and be willing to take direction and provide direction to junior staff. Critical to this role is the ability to provide constructive criticism as well as receive it while bringing a fresh view and positive attitude to every project.
Responsibilities
- In a “hands on” role, oversee and produce artwork that visually communicates outlined objectives
- Interprets strategy to determine direction for visually developing layouts
- Supervise and direct graphic designers to ensure desired look, feel, style are on target
- Participate in brainstorming sessions by contributing/generating ideas/concepts to meet client’s objectives, strategies and needs.
- Assist in with creation of presentations for existing and new client presentations
- Participate in client presentations (when/where necessary)
- Ensure that graphically all legal aspects (if applicable) are covered (Trademarks, branding, copyright, etc.)
- Provide creative project recaps for all team members and clients on a project-by-project basis.
- Ensures management team is advised on all stages of project progress
- Mentors graphic design team
- Works well with vendor partners (printers, photographers, illustrators, freelancers,etc.) as needed
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Arts Degree
Work Experience
- 5-8 years experience as an Art Director or Senior Designer with an ad agency, media firm or consumer packaged goods company required.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
- Full capabilities in commonly used graphics packages in either Mac or PC based, such as Quark Express, Adobe, PhotoShop and the working knowledge of Microsoft suite software of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
