Key Responsibilities

As a Freight Handler at arenaflex, your primary responsibility will be to transport freight across our dock areas to and from trailers for loading and unloading. This role is essential to our operations and requires attention to detail, physical capability, and a strong commitment to safety. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of your key duties and responsibilities:

• Freight Handling Operations: Perform freight handling duties using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. You will become proficient in operating various types of equipment to efficiently move freight throughout the facility.
• Documentation and Verification: Verify that all documentation matches the freight description, including type, weight, and hazardous materials compliance. You will utilize our current electronic systems or manual processes to ensure accuracy in all shipments.
• Freight Securing: Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies such as pallets, straps, and rope to ensure safe transport and prevent damage during transit.
• Damage Assessment and Repair: Recoup or repair damaged freight when necessary, ensuring that all items are properly handled and restored to acceptable condition for delivery.
• Reporting and Documentation: Verify and complete all required documentation and reports accurately and timely. Attention to detail is crucial in maintaining our high standards of record-keeping.
• Customer Assistance: Assist customers with freight-related questions and documentation as needed, providing excellent service and representing arenaflex in a professional manner.
• Hostling Duties: Perform hostling duties (yard mule operations) as required, which may include moving trailers within the yard or terminal area.
• Compliance and Safety: Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures. Safety is our top priority, and every team member is expected to maintain the highest safety standards.
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management, contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Qualifications

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to providing comprehensive training. The following qualifications are required for this position:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but we are open to candidates who are working toward completion.
• Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift and carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week. You should be capable of lifting dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds and opening trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, multiple times per day.
• Physical Mobility: Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout your shift. The role requires continuous movement and physical activity.
• Basic Math Skills: Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator. Accuracy in counting and calculating weights is essential.
• Communication Skills: Basic written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, and customers.
• Teamwork: Ability to work independently and/or as a team member, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Work Ethic: Strong reliability and dedication to showing up on time and completing tasks efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations

• Experience with hostler or yard mule operations
