Position Overview: Product Engineer – Manufacturing Operations
Are you passionate about manufacturing excellence, supply chain innovation, and ensuring that world-class hardware products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability? We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer to join our Manufacturing Operations team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for evaluating product designs, developing manufacturing processes, tools, and procedures that bring arenaflex's powerful search technology and computing infrastructure to life.
As a Product Engineer at arenaflex, you will serve as the vital link between our design teams and manufacturing partners. You will ensure that when our vendors and suppliers assemble the components that power arenaflex's systems, every process is repeatable, controlled, and optimized for quality. Your work will directly impact the performance, reliability, and success of arenaflex's products, ensuring that the diverse pieces of our systems fit together seamlessly and keep our infrastructure running smoothly for billions of users worldwide.
This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on collaboration. You will work closely with Product Managers and Design Engineers to understand arenaflex's infrastructure needs and product specifications, translating these requirements into actionable manufacturing strategies. Additionally, you will travel to work locally with suppliers and provide remote support for pre-production builds, making this an ideal opportunity for professionals who thrive in a dynamic, globally connected environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Product Engineer in Manufacturing Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and innovation across our supply chain. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Lead cross-functional requirements gathering: Conduct surveys and workshops among Design and Operations Engineering teams to drive the requirements necessary for executing Design for Excellence (DFX) and comprehensive test strategies.
- Ensure manufacturing readiness: Guarantee plant availability and support manufacturing line ramp-up activities. Provide product troubleshooting training to manufacturing partners and gather critical feedback on build issues.
- Drive quality improvement: Manage the non-conformance inventory (bone pile) and conduct yield span analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions that enhance product quality and manufacturing yields.
- Risk mitigation and collaboration: Work alongside the Product team to identify potential risks and develop comprehensive mitigation plans. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines.
- On-site manufacturing support: Work locally with suppliers for up to 5 days per week in our Guadalajara, MX manufacturing hub to ensure seamless coordination and immediate issue resolution.
- Quality and reliability leadership: Partner with Quality Engineers to establish product quality and reliability targets. Approve product capability plans, support reliability testing programs, and review results to ensure product performance meets or exceeds established requirements.
- New product introduction: Coordinate the launch of New Product Introduction (NPI) Bill of Materials (BOMs) into our Product Data Management (PDM) system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Supplier capability development: Support second-source part capability initiatives and the release of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs) to maintain supply chain flexibility and resilience.
