About the System Quality Team

Our System Quality group is the backbone of software excellence at arenaflex. We are responsible for performing comprehensive data assessment, developing and maintaining robust data pipelines, and creating sophisticated analysis tools that empower our engineering teams to deliver flawless software releases.

We practice agile, rapid development that relies heavily on a tight collaboration between Planning and Quality Assurance. Our team is looking for strategic thinkers who want to take ownership of their contributions and play a fundamental role in developing new tools and processes for our Software Engineering Program bundle.

What You'll Do

As a Data Scientist on our System Quality team, you will be instrumental in transforming how we approach software quality. Your responsibilities will include:

• Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using modern distributed computing technologies. Work with Cassandra, Spark, and Airflow to process massive datasets efficiently and reliably.
• Data Analysis & Interpretation: Conduct thorough analysis of software quality metrics, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights that drive engineering decisions.
• Test Design & Execution: Plan, lead, analyze, and interpret tests and evaluations to ensure software meets the highest quality standards.
• End-to-End Data Science: Engage with all levels of the data science process including data collection, cleaning, extraction, transformation, loading, analysis, modeling, and prediction.
• Tool Development: Create and maintain analysis tools and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into software quality metrics.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software engineering, QA, and product teams to integrate data-driven approaches into the software development lifecycle.
• Process Innovation: Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and implement innovative solutions that enhance overall software quality.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) are a plus.
• Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with distributed computation, data storage, and workflow management systems, specifically:
  • Apache Cassandra for distributed database management
  • Apache Spark for large-scale data processing
  • Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration platforms
• Analytical Skills: Proven experience designing, conducting, analyzing, and interpreting tests or assessments with strong statistical rigor.
• Data Science Proficiency: Familiarity with the complete data science lifecycle – from data collection and cleaning to extraction, transformation, loading, analysis, and machine learning model development.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and data storytelling abilities. You must be able to convey complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: Highly analytical, creative, driven, and passionate about achieving meaningful results.
• Customer Focus: Enthusiasm for customer-focused design and delivering first-class user experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following would strengthen your application:

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field
• Experience in software quality assurance or testing roles
• Knowledge of iOS, macOS, or other operating systems
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and techniques
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)
• Programming experience in Python, Scala, or Java
• Background in agile software development methodologies
