Freelance News Brief Writers And Reporters Jewish News Syndicate (JNS), the fastest-growing news agency covering Israel and the Jewish world, is seeking freelance News Brief Writers and Reporters to join our Israel editorial team. The writers and reporters will report to the Israel Bureau News Editor and be responsible for delivering regular news reports, analyses, news briefs, and original stories relevant to Israel and the Jewish world, while also conducting interviews and collaborating with the editorial team to produce high-quality content. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of related issues, and be able to quickly identify and cover timely stories related to Middle Eastern and Jewish topics. It's important that our writers connect with our mission and have a strong understanding or genuine interest in Israel and the Jewish world. In addition we're looking for strong ability to cover these topics thoughtfully and accurately. What You'll Do: • Write 2-3 full-length news reports and reported analysis per week on stories of major importance to Israel and the Jewish world • Identify and report occasional features and stories that take deeper dives into a subject, including investigative and data-driven articles • Cover occasional conferences and stories that require travel within Israel • Build and maintain strong connections with sources in the Israel political world • Upload edited articles into the content management system for publication. • Ensure all work meets JNS's high journalistic standards, maintaining absolute accuracy and originality. What You Bring: • Proven track record of high level reporting, with prior experience covering the Israel and US foreign relations being a plus • Demonstrated experience writing in a fast-paced newsroom, with adherence to journalistic styles and norms • News savvy, with a strong interest in news development, staying on top of trends • Strong research skills and the ability to translate complex information into compelling and accessible content • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment • Knowledge of AP style and journalistic ethics • Original writing that upholds the highest journalistic standards, with complete accuracy in all your work • Familiarity with content management systems (Wordpress a plus) • A passion for JNS: you've read our stories, believe in our mission, and are ready to make an impact through accurate and engaging reporting Why Join Us: If you are passionate about JNS's mission, journalism, storytelling, and making a difference through impactful reporting, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
