Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician, Level 2

Job Description: • Responsible for performing advanced inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on solar energy systems • Work independently and provide guidance to junior technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of solar power plants • Lead by example in promoting a safe working environment • Perform comprehensive inspections of solar energy systems, including electrical and mechanical components • Conduct advanced preventative maintenance tasks such as infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and IV curve tracing • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules • Independently diagnose and troubleshoot system issues • Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes • Create and maintain detailed documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs with little oversight • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies • Be able to travel on short notice and be available during non-traditional working hours; up to 50% travel required. Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent • 2 years of experience in the solar industry or related field • Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems, solar energy principles, and grid-tied systems • Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems preferred • OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certification preferred • Familiar operating Drones for Aerial Thermographic purposes • Familiar with the use of diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to work independently and lead by example when working with junior technicians • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
