Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriting Manager to lead our underwriting and processing teams on a contract basis. This role may transition to a full-time position after 3 months, depending on performance and team needs. The ideal candidate will oversee the training of loan processors and loan officers, handle loan escalations, and manage day-to-day operations to ensure efficient, compliant workflow. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and develop training programs for loan processors and loan officers, with a focus on both QM and Non-QM loan products. • Review and manage loan escalations, providing solutions for complex loan files. • Provide underwriting expertise, coaching, and guidance to the team. • Ensure all loan processing and underwriting operations align with company policies and regulatory standards. • Collaborate with senior management to optimize workflow and improve processing efficiency. • Perform other general management tasks as needed. Qualifications: • Extensive experience in mortgage underwriting, with proficiency in QM and Non-QM loans. • Proven ability in training and developing underwriting or processing teams. • Strong leadership skills with a record of effectively managing loan escalations. • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations related to mortgage lending. • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
