Job description: Overview:Intelligent Waves is seeking a LiFi Technologies Business Development Leader for our Corporate Growth Organization. This key role is focused on expanding IW’s footprint with advanced LiFi solutions across the federal government—including DoD, national security, cybersecurity, and communications markets. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in business development, capture, and proposal activities to create and prosecute a robust pipeline of opportunities centered on cutting-edge LiFi technologies. Additionally, this role will work closely with our Joint Venture (JV) partners to develop a go-to-market plan for the DoD and adjacent markets. The candidate should have solid working experience in bringing new emerging technologies to market in a rapidly growing market niche and be able to gather technical product specifications and requirements based on a variety of use cases found.In selling LiFi technology, the candidate will articulate its unique advantages over traditional RF-based solutions. LiFi leverages both visible and infrared light transmitted data at high speeds while ensuring secure, interference-free connectivity—a key benefit for mission-critical DoD applications. This role involves identifying strategic opportunities where LiFi’s inherent security and reliability address challenges like RF congestion and potential electromagnetic interference. Responsibilities:Pipeline Development:
- Grow the opportunity pipeline across DoD and other federal agencies—including DoD and adjacent markets—through diligent and timely identification and qualification of new business opportunities specifically in LiFi technologies.
- Partner with Leadership to refine the division strategy and develop a balanced portfolio centered on innovative LiFi solutions. Able to engage both technical teams and administrative offices to lead successful deal closure.
- Lead and participate in identifying, qualifying, and pursuing (capture) strategic business opportunities in the LiFi market.
- Drive collaboration across the organization to deliver best-in-class LiFi solutions and maximize win probability.
- Utilize market intelligence and competitor data to position the division for success in the rapidly evolving LiFi market.
- Develop strategies that respond to changes in federal priorities, budgets, and requirements in the communications and cybersecurity domains.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government decision-makers, contracting offices, and key stakeholders.
- Conduct customer visits to articulate current and emerging needs for advanced communications technologies.
- Experience and familiarity in selling tactical networking equipment.
- Actively participate in capture activities—including opportunity gate reviews, collaborative sessions, proposal reviews, and business-case development—to drive successful engagements.
- Own and conduct monthly detailed pipeline reviews with Senior Leadership.
- Attend tradeshows and execute follow-up customer call plans post-event. Drive strategic planning and advice around the most appropriate events and participation.
- Proven experience in business development, capture management, and proposal response within DoD and related federal services, cybersecurity, and communications markets—with a focus on technology solutions.
- Ideally, the candidate will have knowledge of technical networking and system architectures for both optical wireless system and bespoke design-in customized solutions needed for government networks.
- Hands-on experience leading federal business identification and capture for deals ranging from Task Orders of $5M–10M to Full and Open deals of $50M+, including set-aside and JV-based opportunities around communications technologies including LiFi.
- Demonstrable win rate over the last 3–5 years.
- 7-10+ years of related experience in selling technology (communications) solutions and business development are strongly desired.
- Strong expertise in relationship-building, understanding federal contract mechanisms, and proposal management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams across different functional areas.
- Ability to travel for prospect/client meetings, conferences, tradeshows, and symposia.
- Must be a US Citizen with a current DoD Secret Clearance.
