- High school diploma or GED required
- Current student in good standing with an Accredited Nursing Program (RN). Required to submit transcript (transcript will be reviewed to verify required classes are complete and passed. This will be checked off by the Education Department), or
- A graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program (RN) who has taken but not successfully completed the State board of nursing examination within the first year following graduation. Required to obtain RN license within a year. After one year will be demoted to a non-licensed position if RN license is not obtained.
- BLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Able to provide the hospital with one shift every pay period.
- Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Good written and verbal communication skills required.
- Bilingual- English/Spanish preferred
- Completion of at least two semesters of ADN or BSN Nursing Program
- Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations.
- Newly graduated nurses hired under DHR health Residency Program who do not successfully pass NCLEX automatically convert to the position of nurse technician
- Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices.
- Activities of Daily Living for patients.
- May perform procedures, examples are collecting specimens, oxygen therapy, dressing changes, wound irrigations, colostomy care, urinary catheterization and irrigation, tracheostomy care, oral, nasal suctioning, isolation procedures, heating-cooling blankets.
- Assists with patient feeding.
- Transports, positions and drapes patients for exams and treatments.
- Assists patients in ambulating.
- Takes and records vital signs, weights and I & O.
- Passes and collects bed pans.
- Changes bed linens.
- Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
- Comply with mandatory education modules.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
