The group leads efforts related to enterprise strategies, portfolio management, resource allocation, M&A strategy, and manages the annual strategic planning process. Corporate strategists are senior professionals, working with business executives and leaders on the company’s highest priority initiatives, with an emphasis placed on value creation through growth.As Director, Corporate Strategy, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact through the following:

• Manage corporate strategic planning process, including executive and Board-level strategy formulation, business case development and deck creation
• Lead corporate portfolio management projects focused on value creation and growth through resource allocation, business creation, and M&A
• Lead strategic initiatives sponsored by CEO, CFO, Chief Strategy Officer, and other Operating Committee members
• Track industry and competitive trends, and develop business outlook and forecasts
• Develop rigorous, fact-based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations.
• Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
• Manage a small action-oriented team of strategy professionals

Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Ten (10) years of strategy experience or equivalent is required in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Minimum of six (6) years post-MBA or post-PhD experience
• Proven track record in providing novel and innovative solutions to complex or difficult strategic issues
• Demonstrated leadership ability – proven track record of leading high-impact projects and cross-functional teams
• Action-oriented, with emphasis on execution and results rather than theory
• Ability to independently lead and manage projects with multiple work streams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems
• Must be able to interact with senior executives and handle high-pressure settings with confidence
• Hands-on, self-starter, team-oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, including solid understanding of financial and statistical analysis
• Significant experience with MS PowerPoint and Excel

• Hybrid Eligible: Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
