Empowering Young Minds: Roller Enrichment Academy (REA) Tutor

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Roller Enrichment Academy (REA) Tutor to join our Youth and Family Education department. As a REA Tutor, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Steelton-Highspire Elementary School students, providing a nurturing and educational environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth.

This part-time position (12 hours/week, Monday-Thursday during the school year) offers a competitive hourly rate of $15.50, a flexible hybrid remote arrangement, and the chance to work with a diverse and experienced team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a quality, nurturing, and educational program environment by demonstrating proficiency in assigned curriculum and effectively implementing lesson plans developed by REA Teachers
  • Use a variety of curriculums, including Sonday system, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Journeys, Wit and Wisdom, Saxon, EnVision, and Xtra Math, to support student learning
  • Attend all trainings and be willing to learn and assist with other assigned curriculums and implement lessons
  • Provide excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, with a focus on confidentiality and cultural flexibility

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma with 2 years of work-related experience in tutoring, Elementary Education, or child care; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in progress preferred
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, with knowledge of cultural flexibility and competency in working with multi-cultural participants
  • Good interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational and classroom management skills, and valid CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to meet the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153
