Remote Director - Live Event Productions
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Remote Director to join our team at Disney, working on live event productions from the comfort of your own home. As a Remote Director, you will be responsible for coordinating live productions of remote games, working closely with school and college sports production divisions to provide guidance and expertise to the student workforce. Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the technical production of live event broadcasts, including following storylines and working with the event Producer to adjust transmission coverage plans as live events unfold. You will also be responsible for supervising the technical crew for live event productions, providing guidance, feedback, and development for staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to schools on all aspects of TV production, including AP and Promotion duties, producer and director responsibilities, and technical below-the-line roles.
- Liaise with school production partners to provide timely feedback on student-produced content.
- Visit school production partner campuses to review equipment, discuss and recommend industry-standard production procedures, and provide a channel for guidance for school administrative staff.
- Design, coordinate, and execute live productions of live, remote games, ensuring that all allowed events are properly recorded.
- Make on-the-spot decisions regarding what pictures and sounds will be broadcast, interpreting data and information to select shots, elements, and sequences.
- Work with Producers and Production teams to determine camera placement at each venue, designing and executing the capture of desired shots, live-to-tape constructs, and sequences of shots.
- Collaborate with engineering professionals to integrate all components of a broadcast, including graphics, enhanced technology elements, switcher effects, composite music, and more.
Requirements:
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Knowledge of live game coordinating processes and technical equipment.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with all team members during live broadcasts.
- 4-5 years of experience in live game coordinating, with a focus on complex and high-pressure events.
- Knowledge of sports history and current events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of the financial implications of coordinating live remote games.
- Passion for popular culture and an understanding of what appeals to ESPN's viewers.
- Comprehension of market positioning and strategies for assigned games.
