We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Yoga Therapist to join our team as a Recreation Assistant at the John D. Dingell Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Detroit, MI. As a Recreation Assistant-Medical Yoga Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing medical yoga therapy to promote, restore, and preserve the health and well-being of our nation's heroes.

About the Position:

This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a competitive salary range of $46,303 - $60,190 per year, depending on experience. The selected candidate will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional Saturday clinics. As a Recreation Assistant-Medical Yoga Therapist, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up yoga settings and equipment, instructing Veterans on the safe use of yoga equipment, conducting well-being classes, and compiling records and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up yoga settings and equipment
  • Instruct Veterans on the safe use of yoga equipment
  • Conduct well-being classes, either group or individual, to promote, preserve, or restore health and well-being
  • Compile, prepare, and submit records, reports, and requests concerning participation, material, and equipment purchase, and inventories
  • Refer patients appropriately when mental or physical issues are out of the scope of practice of the yoga instructor
  • Provide accurate instruction in the areas of Yoga
  • Serve as a consultant to leadership on issues surrounding yoga
  • Participate in meetings to report progress on patients, programs, and interventions
  • Act as a mentor to medical yoga trainees

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Must be proficient in basic written and spoken English
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in Federal Service, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred: Registered Yoga Teacher-200 (RYT-200) certification or higher
