Job Description
The Technical Writer, Global QMS is responsible for ensuring the creation of simple, readily trainable and easily translatable high-quality GSOPs and Work Instructions are created to transform the content and operability of the Global Quality Management System.
This position will co-ordinate the work of technical subject matter experts (SMEs) and an extended network of internal and external technical writers to collaborate in creating the finished content that will be the foundation of out One QMS.
As a guardian of standards for clarity and usability of working documents the job holder must review and approve documents and manage workload to ensure enable a timely completion and delivery of strategic programs and projects.
Job Duties
• Define Standards for best practice technical writing of high-level controlling documents in the Olympus One QMS.
• Co-ordinate internal and external technical writing to achieve consist standards and re-usable and readily translatable content.
• Deliver clear written content from start to finish in coordination with subject matter experts (SMEs). Transforming workflow lists into unambiguous written documents.
• Write content for maximum simplicity and usability consistently across the Quality Management System, ensuring complex documentation is easily understandable.
• Provide editorial support and review, ensuring quality of quality system content, with a focus on clarity, grammar, accuracy, and consistency, while maintaining adherence to proper format, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines/styles/drafting processes.
• Simultaneously manage multiple projects at different stages, contributing to overall process improvement.
• Organize cross functional meetings to align on general strategy for content and authoring of documents, ensuring accurate and timely completion of documents.
• Assist in the tracking of documentation throughout the document control process.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with Global Process Owners, SMEs, Document Control team and Project Managers.
• Perform other duties as required.
Job Qualifications
Required:
• BS Degree in English, Communication or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in technical writing.
• Demonstrated experience in a regulated industry (experience in the medical device sector is highly preferred)
• Working knowing of ISO 13485.
• Excellent understanding and working knowledge of appropriate global regulations, requirements and standards such as ISO 13485:2016, ISO 9001:2015 and FDA Quality System Regulation.
• Travel to other company (regional or international) facilities may be required, up to 10%.
Preferred:
• Excellent documentation, technical writing and proofreading skills.
• Work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to operate efficiently, proactively, managing several tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail · Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence and coach others.
