Help with research design for a qualitative study
I am a first year faculty member in need to help structuring a research study, specifically the research design. In a separate quantitative study, I showed that mentorship yields positive outcomes for professionals in a particular field. As a follow up, I researched all professional organizations within this profession to examine available mentorship programming (which is lacking) and I now want to write a “call to action” article to hopefully be published in a journal.
I suppose I did things a bit backwards, collecting data and now trying to structure the research design for an article. I have a good sense of what my introduction/literature review will say, as well as the discussion and implications. But I feel like my research design is weak, especially to get published in a good journal.
ChatGPT is telling me this is a qual content analysis and environmental scan. Someone else suggested a scoping review. I don’t have enough qual research experience to know if either are the best approach. I need help identifying what type of qual research this is, structuring my research design section of an article, as well as talking through if there are any additional steps I need to take with my data before I start writing.
My ideal collaborator:
I would like someone with very strong qual research experience in the social sciences who is experienced in working with early faculty and/or doc students.
What I'm looking for:
I am looking for 1 virtual meeting (1 hour) to map out a plan. I will send an overview of my data and more information about my study in advance of the meeting. I would like for my collaborator to review this information before we meet, so we can make the most of our meeting time.
Thanks!
