Employment Law - Special Counsel
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Employment Litigation Attorney to join our team. This primarily remote role focuses on handling administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation for a diverse client base, including those with Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI).
In this role, you will lead case strategy, oversee junior attorneys and support staff, and manage matters from inception to resolution—drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, appearing at hearings, and handling trials. Travel is minimal, though occasional local appearances may be required.
This position is designed for attorneys who want to focus on delivering high-quality legal work without business development responsibilities or excessive non-billable demands. You will be supported by skilled paralegals and a shared secretarial pool, working closely with a team of partners and senior attorneys.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and lead single-plaintiff litigation matters and administrative agency proceedings
• Draft pleadings, memoranda, and client communications
• Conduct depositions and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials
• Supervise junior attorneys and support staff
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and firm leadership on case strategy
• Occasionally support class action, PAGA, or other complex employment matters
Qualifications
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school
• Minimum 7+ years of employment law and litigation experience
• Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred
• Experience in a law firm setting
• Familiarity with EPLI-covered matters
• Admission to the California Bar
Compensation & Benefits
• Base salary: $185,000 – $200,000, depending on experience, skills, and chosen billable hours target

Pay: $185,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
