Job Overview and Responsibilities

We are currently seeking an experienced DevOps Data Platform Engineer to join our team. As a Principal Engineer (DevOps Data Platform), you will be responsible for driving the organizational transformation in developing DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. You will contribute to enterprise-wide requirements and ensure adoption of best practices, including visibility, scalability, availability, security, and cost performance. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading DevOps strategy covering design, development of tools, practices, and culture
  • Establishing and enforcing DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment techniques
  • Designing and managing infrastructure as code, using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, to provision and manage resources across cloud environments
  • Implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar, to ensure fast and reliable application deployment
  • Collaborating with security and compliance teams to ensure teams are adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring and analyzing DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance launch/failback consistency and accuracy
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging data technologies, trends, and best practices, and making recommendations for their adoption within the organization's DevOps environment
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • Experience working in public cloud environments, GCP (preferred)/Azure/AWS, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Expertise in infrastructure as code concepts and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for automating resource provisioning and configuration
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Ruby, or similar
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps platform issues and provide effective solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

In addition to the essential qualifications and skills, the following preferred qualifications and skills will be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging Solutions) to ensure application performance and system health
  • Understanding of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices
  • Experience with Generative AI or possibly Gitlab
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior engineers, is a plus
