About the Opportunity

As a Software Engineering Manager for Google Virtual Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical vision and strategy for our virtual assistant projects. You'll lead a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. Your expertise will be crucial in designing, developing, and deploying scalable, efficient, and reliable software solutions that redefine the virtual assistant landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Set clear technical direction and goals for your team, aligning with the broader organization's objectives. Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the technical roadmap for your team, ensuring it meets future requirements and infrastructure needs.
  • Project Management: Oversee project objectives, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive project success.
  • Code Review and Development: Design, code, and review software solutions to complex problems. Ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and testing protocols.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with various stakeholders, including product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to drive project goals and resolve technical issues.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: In Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: 8+ years of experience in software development with proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams and driving technical projects to successful completion.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Complex Organizations: 3+ years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization, with a deep understanding of its dynamics and challenges.
  • Google or Android Experience: Familiarity with Google's technology stack or experience working on Android projects.
  • Virtual Assistant Knowledge: Understanding of virtual assistant technologies and ecosystems.
