Job Role and Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as a Cashier or Stocker and take the lead role during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. You will assist in implementing and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, deliver outstanding customer service, and perform other tasks to increase profitability, customer satisfaction, and team spirit while reducing company losses. 

Roles and Duties:

- Adhere to prescribed processes for store operations, including unloading trucks, receiving, opening, and unpacking cartons and totes.
- Responsible for stock merchandise, product rotation, and creating merchandise displays.
- Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
- Order zones and drop shipment categories as directed by the Store Manager.
- Assist in carrying out plan-o-gram strategy and maintenance.
- Help customers find the merchandise they're looking for.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as bailing cardboard, taking out trash, dusting and mopping store floors, cleaning restrooms and stockrooms.
- Greet customers as they enter the store.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required Skills and Knowledge:

- Proficient in mathematical calculations.
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
- Potential to perform IBM cash register functions.
- Awareness of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidelines.

Education and Experience:

-  A high school diploma or equivalent with at least six months of experience in a supervisory role (or related experience/training) is preferred.

Working Conditions:

- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and kneeling, as check out station, stocking merchandise, and unloading trucks are part of the job.
- Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment necessary for the job.
- Lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 55 pounds occasionally.
- Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level.
- Exposure to outside weather conditions occasionally.
- Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings, and travel to other Dollar General stores.
