About the Role: Principal DevOps Engineer

We're seeking an experienced Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team at Aetna, a CVS Health company. As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving organizational change by developing and implementing DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of DevOps strategies, tools, and practices that drive efficiency, scalability, and reliability across our technology landscape.
  • Design and implement DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment strategies that ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Develop and manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, to provision and manage resources across cloud environments (GCP preferred/Azure/AWS).
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar, to ensure fast and reliable application deployment.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of security and compliance.
  • Monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance deployment/fallback consistency and accuracy.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices, making recommendations for their adoption within our DevOps environment.
  • Coach and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience with at least 4 years of involvement in DevOps data platform development, preferably in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Experience working in cloud environments (GCP preferred/Azure/AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code concepts and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for automating resource provisioning and configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps platform issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging Solutions) to ensure application performance and system health.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior engineers, is a plus.

Education

Bachelor's or alternatively Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field. Graduate degree preferred.
