About the Role: Remote Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization Specialist
As a Remote Pharmacy Technician with our team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient care by coordinating prior authorizations, handling patient and physician communications, and performing various pharmacy functions. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that demands strong technical skills, pharmacology knowledge, and exceptional customer service abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make outbound calls and respond to inbound calls from patients, providers, and other stakeholders, providing professional assistance and resolving queries in a timely manner.
- Enter patient and prescription information into our system accurately and efficiently.
- Fax physicians for prescription clarification, substitutions, and formulary changes as needed.
- Resolve and enter incomplete prescriptions after obtaining necessary clarifications.
- Complete patient letters and other documentation as required.
- Perform other pharmacy functions as needed to support workflow and development.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all approvals and denials.
- Transfer clinical questions and judgment calls to pharmacists for review.
Essential Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician in an administrative support function.
- National pharmacy technician certification.
- Eligible for state registration, certification, or licensure per state regulations (MUST have a state license).
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet utilization.
- Excellent customer service skills (written and verbal).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer service position, preferably in a high-volume call center environment within healthcare, social services, or a similar field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a prior authorization role or similar environment.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software and technology platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
