The Education Consultant 3 position is based in Baton Rouge, LA, and offers remote work options. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review high-quality curriculum and instructional materials for K-12 social studies, including choosing texts, developing lessons, and assessments.
  • Provide support to the field with the implementation of social studies HQIM and HQPL, ensuring that materials are published in an easy-to-use format for teachers.
  • Engage in the observation and review of implementation to refine strategy and plans through an ongoing improvement cycle.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver a common and consistent message to the field in support of Louisiana's academic strategy for social studies.
  • Manage projects and provide functional supervision over Local Education Agencies and lower-level professionals.
  • Stay abreast of the latest historical, social science, and education research, applying this knowledge to inform practice and improve student outcomes.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • A baccalaureate degree plus four years of professional-level experience in teaching or education, or in a public or private sector setting.
  • A master's degree plus three years of professional-level experience in teaching or education, or in a public or private sector setting.
  • A master's degree in education plus two years of professional-level experience in teaching or education, or in a public or private sector setting.
  • Deep content and pedagogical knowledge of K-12 social studies, including current standards, curriculum, and assessments.
  • Experience in developing and implementing educational programs, including project management and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and deliver a common message.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • An advanced degree in history or social sciences, with a focus on education.
  • Experience in teaching K-12 social studies, with a minimum of three years of experience.
  • Knowledge of education research and trends, with the ability to apply this knowledge to inform practice.
