Job Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Chief Architect to lead the technical strategy and execution of our Global Payments, Loyalty, and Fraud Prevention platform and experiences across all our retail brands and geographies. This is a virtual job that works EST hours and incorporates quarterly travel to our Boston headquarters. As a Chief Architect, you will play a critical role in driving our long-term technology strategy for our Fintech and Loyalty environment, designing and building a platform that interfaces with various systems inside and outside Wayfair and partner globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead in the payments space, designing and building a platform that integrates with a wide range of systems inside and outside Wayfair and partner globally
• Play a key role in developing and driving a long-term technology strategy for Wayfair's Fintech and Loyalty environment
• Design and review code to implement high-quality, scalable, future-proof services that will have effective system limits and will support long-term vision and strategy
• Lead technical discussions across the entire platform and help reach robust documented resolutions
• Drive high-impact architecture solutions and involved development, including initiation, design, implementation, and delivery following good design and coding practices
• Fanatically focus on production readiness for the team, including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting
• Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet the division's technical vision
• Influence and contribute to the department's strategy and roadmap
• Support the growth of other engineers by mentoring, pairing, and creating other opportunities for education
• Be remotely recognized as a collaborative and trustworthy subject matter expert for the broader team's core area

Essential Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large company experience
• Ideal to have: Payments engineering domain expertise, particularly experience with larger scope integrations (Visa, Mastercard, BNPL, applications)
• E-commerce or customer-facing technology experience on a high-traffic website is also a significant plus
• Proven experience driving software changes within high-growth environments at scale
• Experienced in architecting and building large-scale, cloud-based technology
• Excellent communication skills with experience leading teams forward and ability to influence results

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-native technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure) at scale
• Distributed systems experience
• Data-driven technologies in the cloud
