About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Full Stack Audio Operator to join our team of professionals working on the ESPN network. As a key member of our audio operations team, you will be responsible for providing sound blending (A1) and sound support (A2) for live events, studio productions, and pre-recorded material. This is a unique opportunity to work from home and be part of a dynamic team that is shaping the future of sports broadcasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Blend different sound signals during live events, creating a seamless audio experience for the audience.
  • Identify and position microphones on the field of play to capture high-quality audio.
  • Operate and maintain all technical and functional aspects of live events, including sound mixing consoles, portable equipment, sound and video directing, digital sound delivery servers, microphones, and IFBs, and their signal streams.
  • Monitor sound signals to ensure quality control and adherence to ESPN's guidelines on all projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues using effective communication to ensure seamless event delivery.
  • Collaborate with A2s in the compound, field, and corners to ensure smooth audio operations.
  • Train and guide A2s on the use of portable units and communication systems.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong background in audio operations, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in A1 roles in remote production environments. You should be proficient in blending sound systems and 5.1 program mixes, as well as the use and reading of sound metering devices, including Encompass Sound Analyzers, Stage Meters, and Din Meters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with broadcast communication equipment and remote production show needs.
  • Strong knowledge of sound boards and control centers, sound signal flow ideas, radio systems, signal transformation equipment, and communication boards.
  • Ability to think critically and investigate technical issues using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Flexibility to travel and appear on weekends and holidays as required by the schedule and show needs.
