Job Summary

The Freight Operations Associate is responsible for efficiently and safely handling the movement of goods in the distribution center. This role ensures the timely, accurate receipt, and storage of merchandise to maintain the company's inventory and fulfill customer needs. The successful candidate will assist with unloading inbound trailers, loading outbound shipments, and organizing products in the warehouse. Key Responsibilities

  • Freight Handling: Use forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyors to transfer products on and off incoming and outgoing trailers. Guarantee the proper care and positioning of items for storage or distribution to retail locations. Undertake the categorization, marking, and meticulous tracking of goods.
  • Inventory Management: Confirm the counting, organizing, and storing of products according to designated warehouse placements. Track and verify shipments, damages, and returns to maintain the precision of inventory records.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain safety standards to prevent hazards in the workplace. Abide by prescribed guidelines when using warehouse machinery and tools to prevent harm and maintain the quality of stored goods. Comply with all organizational procedures, such as the suitable treatment of fragile or dangerous contents.
  • Efficiency: Maintain productivity levels by efficiently completing assigned responsibilities in a timely manner. Participate in initiatives dedicated to refining warehouse processes in order to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Maintain coordination with other freight handlers, warehouse team members, and supervisors to ensure the warehouse operates without any disruptions. Share feedback and address any issues or delays with supervisors as needed.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Experience in warehouse or freight management is considered an asset but not obligatory. Provided training will enable individuals to operate warehouse machinery effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Intense focus on particulars and a strong dedication to correctness.
  • Physical Demands: Demonstrates the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly and sustain long periods of standing.
  • Communication Skills: Superior interpersonal communication skills and adeptness at functioning within a team-oriented structure.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Warehouse Experience: Previous experience working in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Forklift Operation: Experience operating a forklift or other warehouse machinery.
  • Inventory Management: Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.
  • Supply Chain Management: Understanding of supply chain management concepts and practices.
