We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Center Engineer to join our team at Amazon. About the Job
The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of data centers, including the management of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as the maintenance of data center infrastructure. The role will also involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and logistics, to ensure that data centers are running efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of all data center modifications, events, incidents, and troubles from start to finish, including overseeing the completion of post-mortems, root cause analysis, and follow-up decision-making.
- Responsible for ensuring the preservation and maintenance of web-site-critical facility infrastructure or a data center are deliberate and done to the quality interest of the company.
- Responsible for asset and inventory control, including developing and maintaining technique statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.
- Ensure standardization and consistency with quality-in-class working practices, including developing a comprehensive, deep understanding of the design intent, operational options, and contingency plans associated with all data center systems.
- Manage the engineering elements of data centers associated with economic and fee control, code and regulatory compliance, employee control, workforce education and development, health & safety, local statutory requirements, environmental, and power control.
- Develop and supply the daily engineering reviews and ensure adherence to agreed deliverables, including SLA's and KPI's.
- Communicate working philosophies, technical records, targets, and expectations to Amazon employees and to the seller vital centers control groups.
- Providing hands-on facility guide where required (e.g., setup of new equipment, decommissioning of equipment, replacement of defective equipment, internal audits, etc.).
- Oversee technical compliance auditing and the timely near-out of corrective action plans. Perform annual operational reviews with a focus on compliance with the Amazon requirements and all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage the development and delivery of the portfolio of Energy/Environmental Management Programs. Keep abreast of data center business innovation.
Essential Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience of data center operations and on-name guide for data center centers.
- An undergraduate degree in a technical field (EE, Mech E, Industrial E).
- An excellent knowledge on the character of undertaking vital systems (data centers, hospitals, power plants, military centers, etc.).
- The candidate should be a self-starter and independent worker.
- Ability to clarify problems at their root, stepping back to recognize the wider context.
- Previous seller negotiation and control talents for data center and/or improve production contracts.
- Ability to write and evaluate correct and complete guide procedures, system documentation, and issue monitoring entries.
- Shows excellent judgment and instincts in decision-making under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Proactively and constantly enhance his/her level of knowledge about Amazon's business and applicable technologies.
- Able to illustrate his/her capability to take ownership of technical problems delivered to him/her by his/her client base. If the candidate is not able to solve certain problems by himself, he/she should display a willingness to actively interact different guide groups to force it to decision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data center operations, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure, including cooling systems, power distribution units, and uninterruptible power supplies.
- Experience with data center management software, including monitoring and control systems.
- Knowledge of data center security protocols and procedures.
- Experience with data center maintenance and repair, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of data center energy management systems and practices.
- Experience with data center compliance and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
