**Experienced Part-time Senior Assistant – Community Engagement and Program Development for Older Adults**

**Job Summary**
Brooklyn Public Library Services for Older Adults is seeking applications for our part-time Senior Assistant program. Senior Assistants will provide quality programs for older adults at designated branches of the Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) and at senior sites throughout Brooklyn. Under the direction of the Services for Older Adults Program Assistant, the Senior Assistant will assist in building meaningful social engagement to Brooklyn's diverse 50+ audience.
**Responsibilities**
As a Senior Assistant, you will be responsible for:
* Planning and presenting programs and activities for older adults, to encourage patron participation and stimulate use of the library, including Creative Aging programs, outreach programs, and special events.
* Using the selected curriculum to plan and conduct older adults programs for participants 50+ and their caregivers.
* Providing feedback to Program Outreach Associate with participation, curriculum, teaching artists, and materials.
* Assisting teaching artists at selected Creative Aging program locations; distributing necessary program supplies, collecting, and storing materials at the end of each session, etc.
* Gathering attendance, surveys, and other relevant information from participants for evaluation.
* Coordinating and preparing programs with the assigned branch or senior site prior to each session.
* Communicating regularly and providing feedback with Services for Older Adult team; managing necessary administrative duties such as time-sheets and statistics.
* Conducting model programs for staff to observe as needed.
* Promoting programs and distributing promotional materials about Services for Older Adults Brooklyn Public Library/Services for Older Adults.
* Representing Brooklyn Public Library Services for Older Adults at community meetings and outreach activities as required.
* Utilizing connections with BPL resources and other service providers to work with older adults.
* Facilitating skill building among older adults in areas such as technology, arts, or job search.
* Other duties as required.
**Qualifications**

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work as a team, making adjustments to best meet the needs of patrons with and without disabilities
* Desire to work with older adults and people with disabilities
* Be relatable to the target demographic being serviced
* Ability to take orders and pay attention to details
* Flexibility and willingness to travel
* Ability to bend, reach, sit, and stand as needed
* Computer skills required: email and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and other virtual platforms
* Bilingual language skills preferred, including Sign Language, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cantonese, Mandarin, Bengali, Urdu, Polish, and Russian
