Job Summary: Certified Medical Assistant We're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team on a remote basis. As a Certified Medical Assistant at UT Southwestern, you'll play a critical role in providing clinical support to our physicians and nurses, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities: Takes, records, and reports patient vital signs using medical equipment; performs procedures of low complexity such as visual acuity, development and/or musculoskeletal screening, POC testing, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and other approved clinic-specific diagnostic testing. Escorts or transports patients to exam rooms or treatment rooms, or other areas as directed, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow. Documents completion of patient care tasks in medical records, reinforcing education provided by physicians or nurses and seeking assistance when necessary. Assists in the care of patients by preparing exam rooms, facilitating the use of diagnostic equipment, and ensuring the availability of necessary patient information. Assumes responsibility for weekly autoclave temperature monitoring, POC testing QA, and monthly audit reports on compliance as directed by clinic management. Serves as a preceptor and resource for newly-hired medical assistants and medical assistant externs, actively participating in their integration into the department. Performs a variety of administrative/clerical duties, including scheduling patient appointments, precertifying procedures, and answering patient phones. Inspects equipment and facilities to ensure patient safety and proper functioning, identifying any potential issues or concerns. Maintains current customer service, clinical, and technical skills by attending training programs and procedures, participating in annual skills competency reviews. Performs other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities. Essential Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Completion of Medical Assistant training 1 year of experience in patient care in a physician office practice CPR certification (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Medical Assistant certification and maintenance of current certified status obtained through one of the following: The American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists Association, the National Association for Health Professionals, the National Center for Competency Testing, The National Healthcareer Association, or American Allied Health Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a research or academic medical center Knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams What We Offer: At UT Southwestern, we're committed to supporting the well-being and success of our employees.
