Mechanical Designer, SolidWorks (Remote)
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Designer, SolidWorks in Arlington, VA.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and refining mechanical designs using SolidWorks CAD software to support complex engineering projects. You will collaborate closely with engineers and product development teams to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings while ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. The position involves managing design revisions, producing documentation for manufacturing, and generating flat patterns and cut files. You will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in a dynamic environment, while maintaining high standards for precision and technical excellence. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently are essential to succeed in this role.
Accountabilities:
• Create, modify, and maintain 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
• Produce detailed technical drawings, including dimensions, material specifications, and tolerances.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to develop concepts and refine designs.
• Manage design changes, including engineering change orders (ECRs) and document revisions.
• Ensure designs are accurate, cost-effective, and meet project requirements.
• Generate flat patterns and cut files for manufacturing operations.
• Maintain organized CAD files and version control.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience using SolidWorks CAD software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, design for manufacturability, and engineering processes.
• Familiarity with GD&T stack-up analysis and mechanical drafting standards.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation accuracy.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with the capability to work independently.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a SECRET security clearance.
• Preferred: experience in maritime or offshore industries, U.S. Navy/Coast Guard/commercial vessels, and additional CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or Rhino.
