Director of NERC Compliance – Remote
This long-term contract-to-hire role leads and manages the organization's NERC compliance program by setting annual compliance objectives, maintaining the compliance risk register, and ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory standards. The position drives audit readiness across reputed company applicable registrations by coordinating evidence collection, reputed company reviews, and responses for audits, spot checks, and self-certifications. Responsibilities include conducting compliance gap analyses, overseeing reputed company cause investigations, and managing corrective reputed company plans through closure. The role also maintains program documentation and delivers executive-level reporting, while partnering with operations, engineering, asset management, reputed company, and cybersecurity teams to reputed company compliance into daily operations and change management processes.
Requirements
• 7-10+ years of experience in energy compliance, operations, or cybersecurity with reputed company ownership of NERC Operations & Planning compliance.
• Demonstrated experience building and managing an reputed company NERC compliance program, including policies, controls, evidence management, and reporting.
• Strong audit leadership experience, including reputed company audits, spot checks, and self-certifications, with skills in gap analysis, reputed company cause analysis, and corrective reputed company planning.
• Experience serving as the primary reputed company with NERC, FERC, and Regional Entities, including representing the organization in formal audit and compliance discussions.
• Strong executive communication skills with the ability to brief leadership, guide operational and IT teams, and promote a reliability-first culture.
Preferred Qualifications
• Hands-on NERC CIP experience, including asset identification, reputed company controls, incident response, and change management across IT and OT environments.
• Exposure to compliance requirements for wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) assets, including evolving standards for inverter-based resources.
• Experience developing role-based compliance training and awareness programs for operators, engineers, and contractors.
