Freelance Writer

We are looking for an individual to help generate original material for our blog. If you like to write and are looking to contribute to a non-profit, this position may be perfect for you! We're interested in articles relevant to the LGBT+ community in the Central Valley of California and national LGBT+ articles/news. Topics that would be of interest are politics, film/book & entertainment reviews, opinion pieces, nightclub & performance articles & reviews, local event coverage, features on local businesses, etc. Throughout the year there are also regular, local events which we can assign interested writers to visit and cover (If you are local). Articles posted are often picked up and printed in various other local, community website and print publications. All articles must be original and written by you, work is submitted by email. Required Skills: • Excellent written communication skills • Ability to work independently • Strong desire to volunteer Job Responsibilities: • Refer to blog team shared documents for potential blog topics and/or work with the blog team manager to come up with a blog topic • Submit a well-written, carefully edited blog on or before your blog due date • Review any feedback from the blog team manager, blog editor, and/or director of operations • Commit for minimum of a six-months • Roughly 3-5 hours/month Our philosophy: We are an all-volunteer organization, with no one paid employees, and so we place a high value on those who want to work with us.
