Associate Controls Engineer
FORTNA partners with leading brands to transform omnichannel and parcel distribution operations. The Associate Controls Engineer will assist in the commissioning of automated sortation systems, focusing on implementing site-based controls for new equipment within customer facilities under the supervision of Sr Controls Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Write and implement PLC code, integrate subsystems, and assist in all on-site commissioning efforts
- Utilize “Human Machine Interface” (HMI) using commercially available products such as Ignition, Aveva Intouch Wonderware, Aveva Edge (Indusoft) or FactoryTalk View to develop interface solutions
- Implement PLC and HMI programs to satisfy current design and customer specifications under the supervision of Sr Controls Engineers
- Able to review and understand electrical designs
- As part of a team, support the commissioning of complex automated systems, provide site engineering support, and participate in system acceptance testing
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or comparable
- Familiar with basic electronic/electrical schematics or components
- Equivalent work experience will also be considered as a substitute for education
- Must be self-motivated, self-aware, detail-oriented, and results-focused
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with FORTNA team members, project managers and customers in a professional written and spoken manner
- Ability to take direction from Sr. Level Controls Engineers to support the project and ensure all aspects of project goals are achieved
- Basic understanding of induction motors, programmable logic controllers and industrial networks is a plus
- 0-2 years of experience within an industrial controls environment which includes:
- PLC programming (Rockwell Software, Siemens or Schneider)
- HMI Programming (FactoryTalk View or Ignition)
- Familiar with IO devices and device layout
- Industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Devicenet, Profinet, etc.)
- Low voltage electrical design and drawing creation
- Experience with Microsoft 365 - Office Apps
