Postdoctoral Associate

The George Washington University Institute for Data, Democracy and Politics (IDDP) seeks exceptional candidates for a full-time, academic research position at the rank of post-doctoral fellow. The postdoctoral associate will work on topics related to misinformation, persuasion, and political psychology, contributing to rigorous, evidence-based research that advances democratic values.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the planning of independent research
• Analyze and interpret data
• Publish results
• Represent the university at conferences and meetings
• Develop new theories and methodologies
• Collaborate with affiliated researchers and faculty pursuing more narrowly specified projects
• Conceptualize, design and analyze behavioral social science research related to IDDP’s mission
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills

• Applicants must have fulfilled all requirements for the award of a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field by the date of employment
• Deep expertise in behavioral approaches to social science, including but not limited to the design and analysis of experiments
• Intimately familiar with sophisticated analytic tools and will have a demonstrated record of their use
• Extensive professional experience using R, Python or similar tools are a key requirement for the position
• Show potential to excel in tasks related to behavioral social science research
• Collaborate with affiliated researchers and faculty pursuing more narrowly specified projects in addition to the pursuit of individual project interests
• Conceptualize, design and analyze behavioral social science research related to IDDP's mission
• Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
