Job Overview

In this role, you will be an integral part of a product engineering or delivery and integration team, reporting to an Engineering Lead. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the development of software applications, participate in code reviews, and troubleshoot programming components. You will also have the opportunity to lead a small team of engineers, influencing them to reach their full potential and driving innovative changes and improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and test software applications, including ongoing refactoring of code and driving continuous improvement in code structure and quality
  • Participate in code reviews and digital testing, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability
  • Troubleshoot essential programming components and identify code defects for remediation
  • Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
  • Automate solutions in test or production environments, leveraging your expertise in programming languages and software development methodologies
  • Scale applications based on demand projections, ensuring seamless performance and reliability
  • Lead a small team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to help them achieve their goals and develop their skills
  • Influence colleagues with innovative ideas and improvements, fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. You should also have at least 3 years of software development experience, with a strong background in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala. Experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, and Hive, is also essential. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, financial reporting environments, and distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, building microservices and scalable solutions
  • Knowledge of Kafka streams or pipelines, with experience in designing and building solutions using these technologies
  • Familiarity with GitHub or Bitbucket, and experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and solutions effectively
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results
