Fieldwork Intern, Bureau of Public Health Clinics
NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is dedicated to safeguarding the health of New Yorkers. The Fieldwork Intern in the Bureau of Public Health Clinics will assist in enhancing outreach strategies, maintaining outreach calendars, and engaging with community health initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Investigate strategies to enhance our existing CUNY student outreach methods
- Maintain an up-to-date calendar with all planned outreach activities
- Log activities in city database Public Health Partners Connect (PHPC) within 2 business days
- Conduct periodic quality assurance checks on PHPC data
- Follow up on student-focused listservs the clinics belongs to in order to ensure services listed, locations, and hours are posted and accurately depicted
- Share promotional materials during student and/or on-campus activities and events
- Ensure increased access to safer sex supplies throughout campuses
- Attend pre-identified community and coalition meetings
- Assess student engagement work to strategize outreach with a racial equity lens
- Create transition document at the end of their fieldwork that details all aspects of the project, including outstanding assignments, main points of contacts and potential next steps to move the project forward
- Provide overall summary of their work with Community Engagement Unit
Skills
- Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school
- Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school
- Comfortable communicating clearly and professionally to diverse audiences by email, phone, and in-person
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
