Consumer & Retail - Analyst

SMBC Group is a top-tier global financial group offering a diverse range of financial services. They are seeking a Corporate & Investment Banking Analyst to join their Consumer Coverage team, where the role involves supporting senior bankers, managing client relationships, and executing high-profile transactions.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior bankers in managing client relationships and identifying cross-sell opportunities across SMBC’s product suite
• Prepare pitches, marketing materials, and strategic financing ideas across the capital structure
• Build and maintain complex financial models, perform valuation analyses, and interpret financial statements
• Track industry trends, gather competitive intelligence, and contribute to sector-specific research for client presentations
• Coordinate due diligence, documentation, and internal approval processes for lending and capital markets transactions
• Work closely with product partners (Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Lending Management) to deliver integrated solutions

Skills

• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with proficiency in valuation techniques
• Excellent communication skills—able to articulate ideas clearly in writing and verbally
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and ability to interpret financial statements
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to new processes
• Education: BA/BS degree required
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Licensing: FINRA Series SIE, 79, and 63 required (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe)
