Gas Design Engineer

Avista is a company focused on providing essential services and support to its customers and communities. They are seeking a Gas Design Engineer to carry out assignments related to Gas Engineering, which involves designing and modifying gas systems, performing engineering calculations, and ensuring compliance with technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Carries out assignments related to Gas Engineering at full Mechanical or Civil Engineering level
• Performs engineering which requires broad technical and company knowledge as well as originality and judgement in the technical analysis and independent evaluation, selection, and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
• Designs new or modifies design of existing gas systems, including gas piping, pressure regulation and metering stations, odorizer facilities, and cathodic protection systems
• Determines design parameters and calculates material needs, equipment sizes, and strength requirements
• Makes other related engineering design calculations

Skills

• Bachelor of Science in ABET accredited Engineering Program
• Effective and flexible communication skills
• Ability to travel overnight and work at remote locations when needed
• Minimum of one (1) year of engineering work experience required for Assistant Engineer
• Minimum of two (2) years of engineering work experience required for Associate Engineer
• Minimum of four (4) years engineering work experience required for Engineer
• Minimum of six (6) years engineering work experience required for Senior Engineer
• Demonstrated skills illustrating use of productivity, presentation, and analytical tools specific to area of expertise for Senior Engineer
• Demonstrated technical leadership within engineering for Senior Engineer
• Demonstrated positive and effective working relationships with internal and external parties for Senior Engineer
• Experience with Natural Gas assets is preferred but not required
• 0-1 years engineering work experience preferred for Entry Engineer
