Job Overview

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Customer Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Customer Engineer at arenaflex, you will be working towards developing and nurturing new composite materials and manufacturing technologies aligned with market and customer needs. You will lead concept development activities for new opportunities, coupling material, process, and part design, and serve as the principal technical interface with our customers. Your expertise will be instrumental in assessing technology gaps, providing advice for future product and process development, and promoting arenaflex products and technologies to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture new composite materials and manufacturing technologies aligned with market and customer needs
  • Lead concept development activities for new opportunities, coupling material, process, and part design
  • Be the principal technical interface with our customers and be the voice of the customer for arenaflex's internal functions
  • Assess technology gaps and provide advice for future product and process development
  • Promote arenaflex products and technologies and articulate value propositions to our customers
  • Advise on materials and process selections for new composite material applications
  • Lead and support projects requiring material manufacturing, prototyping, and part builds
  • Provide field technical support to major aerospace OEM and subcontractors for new and legacy programs
  • Identify and lead resolution of material issues in aerospace composite shops
  • Act as the "Voice of the Customer" to liaise with the greater part of arenaflex to affect a mutually acceptable resolution
  • Advise customers on processing and properties of arenaflex products
  • Support trade studies and provide recommendations on product options and selection based on customer parts and applications
  • Lead and support research and development activities that aim at achieving technical and business objectives
  • Support simulation analysis and development for composite part manufacturing and structural performance
  • Identify potential new applications for arenaflex products and support Account Managers in capturing new business

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree minimum (in relevant Engineering or Material Science discipline)
  • Knowledge of aerospace composite part fabrication
  • Experience resolving product and process capability issues in composite part applications
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated work experience in composites, including problem-solving, technical presentations, project management, relationship building, and identification of new opportunities
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience reviewing composite part designs/drawings for manufacturability and specification compliance
  • Understanding of the aerospace industry, including OEMs, their suppliers, various programs, aerospace quality systems, composite testing requirements, statistical process control, and capability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD degree in a relevant Engineering or Material Science discipline
  • Experience working with thermoset prepregs, thermoplastics, adhesives, primers, and surfacing films
  • Familiarity with processes including autoclave, out-of-autoclave, press-molding, and resin infusion
  • Experience with simulation analysis and development for composite part manufacturing and structural performance
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

As a Senior Customer Engineer at arenaflex, you can expect a competitive salary and benefits package, including a base salary range of $90,880 to $113,600 per year, plus bonus and/or other incentives. You'll also be eligible for a range of benefits, including 16 or more weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, a comprehensive training platform, free language courses, and free well-being sessions.
