Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines - P&C

Intact Financial Corporation is looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines to join their P&C underwriting team in a temporary position. The role involves handling insurance policy endorsements, assisting underwriters, and maintaining positive business partnerships with brokers while promoting continuous learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Handle insurance policy endorsements and cancellations
• Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously
• Assist Underwriters with the administration of complex policies
• Apply underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits
• Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies
• Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers
• Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions
• Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency
• Embark on continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance your technical skills and contribute to personal and professional growth

Skills

• 1 year of underwriting experience required
• Candidates with previous Commercial Lines P&C experience will be prioritized
• Strong typing skills to process daily work
• Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
• Team player
• A passion for learning and desire to grow within the department
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
