The Opportunity Tenor Legal is seeking a Consumer Products Licensing Attorney to support one of the world's most iconic entertainment and media companies on a full-time contract engagement. This role involves providing legal counsel across a portfolio of globally recognized franchises spanning film, animation, and publishing—advising on merchandise licensing, rights management, and consumer products agreements that bring beloved characters and stories to life for consumers worldwide. The Client Our client is a preeminent global entertainment and media conglomerate whose portfolio includes some of the most beloved and commercially successful franchises in history. The company's Consumer Products division commercializes an unmatched roster of characters, stories, and worlds through merchandise licensing, publishing, and brand collaborations that reach hundreds of millions of consumers globally. Key Details • Engagement Type: Full-Time Contract (through Tenor Legal) • Duration: May, 2026 – December, 2026 • Location: Los Angeles area preferred; remote candidates will be considered • Compensation: $175,000 – $190,000 annualized • Benefits: Healthcare, 401(k) with employer match, PTO, paid holidays, and paid bar dues Responsibilities • Provide legal advice and guidance related to consumer products license agreements and related matters • Draft and negotiate consumer products-related agreements, focusing primarily on merchandise license agreements and amendments, as well as promotional, service, vendor, and non-disclosure agreements • Collaborate closely with licensing attorneys, paralegals, and business clients across North America and Global Brand Commercialization Teams, Contract Administration, and Business Affairs • Provide legal support for merchandise and publishing rights clearances and management, including: ◦ Researching, analyzing, and summarizing production agreements, acquisition agreements, talent agreements, chain of title, and other rights-related agreements ◦ Drafting Merchandise Rights Memos and summaries • Handle miscellaneous projects as they arise Qualifications • Law degree (JD or equivalent) from an accredited law school • Active membership in the bar of the state in which you're physically located. • At least 5 years of significant legal experience in a law firm advising major corporate clients and/or an in-house corporate legal department • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills • Strong commercial/transactional expertise, with significant experience drafting and negotiating intellectual property-related agreements, particularly license agreements • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and execute efficiently across multiple high-priority and high-volume projects with minimal supervision • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment • Commercial and solution-oriented mindset • Experience with talent, production, and rights-related legal and contractual issues Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience supporting clients in the consumer products or entertainment industries • Familiarity with franchise-based merchandising and publishing rights structures Why This Role • Work on transactions involving some of the most recognizable franchises in global entertainment • Gain exposure to a sophisticated consumer products legal team operating at massive scale • Build expertise in IP licensing, merchandising rights, and entertainment law • Competitive annualized compensation of $175,000 – $190,000 with full benefits Tenor Legal is an equal opportunity employer.
