Azure Engineer/Architect

Job Overview: PENNEP is seeking a talented and dedicated Azure Engineer/Architect to join our client’s dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Epic healthcare systems and will support a large-scale Epic migration to Microsoft Azure. This role requires a strong technical foundation combined with excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills. You will work closely with clinical, IT, and vendor teams to ensure a smooth, secure, and compliant cloud transformation. Roles & Responsibilities: • Lead and support the migration of Epic environments to Microsoft Azure, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations • Design, implement, and optimize Azure cloud architecture aligned with Epic best practices • Collaborate with Epic analysts, infrastructure teams, clinicians, and vendors to gather requirements and translate them into scalable cloud solutions • Ensure security, compliance, and performance standards (HIPAA, healthcare regulations) are met • Provide architectural guidance on networking, storage, compute, identity, and disaster recovery in Azure • Troubleshoot migration and post-migration issues, communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Create and maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks • Act as a trusted advisor, helping teams adapt to cloud-based workflows and best practices Required Skills and Experience: • Proven experience as an Azure Engineer or Azure Architect • Epic systems experience (infrastructure, hosting, or cloud migration preferred) • Strong understanding of Azure services (VMs, VNETs, Storage, Azure AD, Security, Backup/DR) • Experience supporting healthcare IT environments • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across clinical, technical, and leadership teams • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, human-friendly manner • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in high-impact, patient-critical environments Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
